Welcome

With over 500 members we love Cougars and Boats. It doesn't matter if you have a 50 foot yacht, a small sailboat, kayak, or just love the water.  Bring your Cougar pride to one of our events and hang out with fellow WSU Alums, students, and even Butch.

The Cougar Yacht Club was officially started by Paul Sunich and Larry Culver in 1995. Both as fellow Cougars and as members of the Seattle Yacht Club, Paul and Larry were looking for a way to show Cougar spirit and proudly represent WSU on the water during the Seattle Opening Day Parade. The first time the Cougars represented in Opening Day of boating season was in May 1995 with one boat.  Ever since, on Opening Day of boating season the Cougar Yacht Club shows our pride and continues to put the Huskies to shame in the number of boats entered and in our school spirit.  In fact the Cougars won the spirit category so often we no longer enter in this category. This is one event you do not want to miss!  Come join the fun and help us keep our bragging rights right in the shadow of Montlake.

Mission statement:  "The Cougar Yacht Club is an organization of WSU volunteers.  Our Mission is to promote Cougar spirit by connecting alumni and friends to WSU through their interest in boating and to raise the image and awareness of WSU in waterfront communities."

Are You A Cougar?

We're Cougars who love the water, and welcome any other Cougs who share our passion.  We would love to have you along for the ride!
